Master of Science in Accounting and Finance

There is a growing need for professionals with strengths in both accounting and finance. Meet this demand and build the foundation for your career through the Master of Science (MS) in Accounting and Finance. You will benefit from specialized training in advanced theories and applications in both accounting and finance. Upon graduation, you will be positioned to take on positions such as cost accountant, staff accountant, financial analyst, and financial manager in business and non-profit organizations.

Key Features:

  • Develop the conceptual understanding and technical competence needed to succeed in a professional career in accounting or finance.

  • Experience in-depth cross-disciplinary training not available in traditional MBA, master’s in accounting or master’s in finance programs.

  • Develop effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Gain practical skills and a theoretical foundation in the fields of accounting and finance.

Curriculum

As an MS in accounting and finance student, you will be required to take a total of 30 units of coursework, a minimum of 24 units at the graduate (500) level and earn a minimum GPA of 3.0. Additional prerequisite coursework may be required. Please visit the University Catalog for course descriptions and prerequisites.

Prerequisites and Admission Requirements

The accounting department requires:

  • GMAT or GRE 

  • Professional résumé

  • Statement of purpose

  • Leadership and creativity statement

  • Official transcripts

  • International students must also take one of the following three tests:

    • TOEFL: minimum 570 (paper), 88 (IBIT)

    • IELTS: minimum 7

    • PTE: minimum 65
