Mira Farka, Ph.D.

Dr. Mira Farka joined the Department of Economics at California State University, Fullerton in August 2005. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University, New York, in 2004 with concentration in financial economics, monetary policy, and applied macroeconomics. Dr. Farka’s research interests focus on applied topics in the fields of macroeconomics and finance with emphasis on asset prices and monetary policy. Adrian Fleissig, Ph.D.

Dr. Adrian Fleissig has a joint Ph.D in Economics and Statistics from North Carolina State University, and is highly ranked among economists world-wide based on his academic research. He is well-known for developing economic theory and methodology to better understand regional economics and is a leading forecaster of the housing market. Professor Fleissig is a member of the Advisory Board for the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and studies the impact that Federal Reserve Bank policy has on consumer behavior. Rokon Bhuiyan, Ph.D.

Dr. Rokon Bhuiyan joined the Department of Economics at California State University, Fullerton in Fall 2009, after receiving his Ph.D. in Economics from Queen’s University, Canada. Dr. Bhuiyan’s research interests focus on Monetary Policy, International Finance, Time Series Econometrics, and Asset Pricing.  Dr.Larry Howard

Larry Howard, Ph.D. 

Larry L. Howard is an assistant professor in the department of economics at California State University, Fullerton. He received his doctorate in economics from the University of Houston. His research interests include investigating the determinants of state government spending, evaluating policies affecting disadvantaged populations, and understanding how the availability of food resources affects children’s dietary patterns, nutritional status, and performance in school. He has published his research (PDF) in the British Journal of Nutrition, Contemporary Economic Policy, Economics of Education Review, International Review of Applied Economics, and Public Finance Review.

Kristin J. Kleinjans, Ph.D. (PDF)

Kristin J. Kleinjans is an applied microeconomist with interests in public economics, labor economics, and health. Her approach is often interdisciplinary and incorporates results from psychology and sociology in economic models. Her recent work provides reasons for gender differences in educational and occupational choices.  Dr.Sherif Khalifa

Sherif Khalifa, Ph.D.   

Dr. Sherif Khalifa is an assistant professor in the Department of Economics at California State University, Fullerton. Sherif earned his Ph.D. at the Johns Hopkins University in 2006. His research interests include the study of labor markets over the business cycle, with an attempt to explain the cyclical patterns of labor mobility, skill mismatch, the skill premium and the persistence of unemployment, besides the impact of monetary policy on labor markets. Huiran Pan, Ph.D.

Dr. Huiran Pan joined the college as an assistant professor of economics in 2009. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Davis. Her research interests focus on international finance, open economy macroeconomics, monetary economics and applied econometrics. Her recent work pertains to the ongoing debt crisis and financial crisis, the crash of housing markets, increasing bank instability, and their impacts on financial development and economic growth. Denise Stanley, Ph.D.

Denise Stanley holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Natural Resource Economics from the University of Wisconsin Madison. She previously received degrees from Occidental College, the London School of Economics and Oxford University.
