STEP 2:  Sign up for First-Time First Year Orientation & CBE Registration Workshop

As a First Time First Year student, you will need support for Advising and Registration for your first semester.  It is strongly recommended that you choose the In-Person Option due to its advantages:

• You’ll leave registered for your first semester.
• You’ll become familiar with the campus.
• You’ll build relationships with your peers.

CHOOSE THE BEST OPTION FOR YOU:

• OPTION 1: In-Person Orientation & Registration (Recommended)
  • When you sign up for an In-Person Orientation you will automatically be signed up for the in-person Major Advising and Registration Workshop, on the same date. No further steps are needed.  
• OPTION 2: Hybrid Orientation & Registration
  • If you choose to sign up for the Hybrid Orientation, you’ll complete the orientation online.
  • You’ll also need to sign up for an in-person Major Advising and Registration workshop.
  • Please check your CSUF email for details and dates.

STEP 3: Complete the General Education Advising Modules. Complete the General Education (GE) Advising Modules . Please complete the modules before you register for the fall semester.

STEP 4:  Complete ALEKS (if applicable). Starting June 1, Business Administration and Economics majors can complete the ALEKS Assessment for calculus readiness. If eligible, you will receive an email regarding the ALEKS assessment. You should complete it to determine the math course you can register for in your first semester. You must start ALEKS at least a week before registration and complete it at least 48 business hours before attending your Orientation & Registration workshop.

NOTE: Students in the International Business major do not complete ALEKS.

STEP 5: Review the First Time First Year Registration Guide. Registration will be completed during your In-Person Major Advising & Registration Workshop for the College of Business. Your hold will be removed the day of your Registration Workshop. During Orientation & Registration Workshop you an advisor will go over your schedule for the semester.  The First Time First Year Registration Guide includes instructions on how to register, what to register for and useful resources.

STEP 2:  New Transfer Student Advising Process (Mandatory).

Welcome to the next step in your journey! To ensure you're ready for a smooth transition,

1. All new transfer students are required to complete the New Transfer Student Advising Process via Canvas before registering for classes (to have your registration hold removed). 
2. Starting October 25, 2024 , once you've accepted admission, you'll gain access to this process on Canvas. Keep an eye on your CSUF email for an invitation from the Business Advising Center with all the instructions you'll need.
3. No need to schedule an appointment online —we’ve got you covered! Your advisor will personally reach out to guide you through the process and offer an optional advising meeting once you've completed all Canvas modules, including Step 4: Submission of your tentative class schedule.

IMPORTANT:  As a reminder, please do not schedule an appointment online—appointments made online will be canceled. Additionally, avoid using other advising services like walk-ins or drop-in advising. Your advisor will reach out to you directly, once they receive your tentative class schedule, and guide you through the process. You will receive personalized support, including an opportunity to schedule an optional advising meeting once you're further along in the New Transfer Student Advising Process.

STEP 4: Registration. Registration for newly admitted transfer students begins November 12th. You can view your enrollment date (PDF) in your Student Homepage when it becomes available.
